Welcome to St Francis!
Class Teacher: Mr Rebelo
Year 5 joined Year 2, last Friday, to visit the Cheddar Chocolate Factory, in Cheddar. Mr Sweet and all the staff received us extremely well and he taught us how the different types chocolate are made. Obviously, the best part was eating it...
Here are Year 5's acting a scene of Romeo and Juliet in just 2 minute. It was a challenge where children could improvise and create some new lines, as long as the story line stayed the same. We had lots of fun!
Last week, Year 5's had PEP training, which will enable them to lead PEP in a better way and improve leadership skills. We have to thank Kim and Sue for the training and Year 2 for their help.
Our Science Week Project was a pleasure to make. The children worked really hard and we had precious help from Mrs Gallo-Wallis. Here we have a lovely Space Station (Y5SC).
Today we had a very special visit in our classroom! Father Richard came to talk to us about the Sacraments of Matrimony and Holy Orders. We've asked very interesting and thoughtful questions and learnt a lot.
Thank you Father Richard.
What a lovely week we are having! We have been busy trying rockets, "going to space" (Dome), building our space station and doing chemistry.
As this term we are talking about arguments and how to be persuasive, we have decided to held some formal debates in the classroom. The children came up with the questions and our discussions were productive and fun.
Year 5 taking advantage of the nice weather for an afternoon of still-life sketching.
Year 5 and Year 3 went on a trip yesterday to Think Tank Science Museum, in Birmingham. We had a lovely day and learnt about lots of science topics. Our class attended a workshop teaching us about properties of materials, where we learnt about reversible and irreversible changes.
We have been going to Hans Price Secondary School to have Computing lessons and work on Scratch.
Investigating the solubleness and insolubleness of some materials.
We have been learning how to play the trumpet.
We have been writing our exciting ancient Greek myths.
Year 5 singing with the the school choir, led by Mr Ogden.
We had great fun going around the classrooms to read different types of texts.
